Making Money From iPhone Apps

How can you make money from iPhone apps?
How would you like to be the next pioneer of iPhone applications? Some people make thousands and thousands of dollars a day from people downloading the very simple iPhone apps they created in their free time. Some applications are very simple but are very helpful for day to day needs. The typical application costs 99 cents which you get to keep 70% of the revenue earned when someone downloads your app. How does quitting your job, and living off the money you make from the simple iPhone app sound? Something that doesn't even take a long time to make. Many other people have done it, why not you? It's really easy and there is a great market for it.There are millions of iPhone users who access the iTunes app store daily.
How to get started.
Well first you need a Mac to publish any application you make so that it is available in the Apple iTunes App Store. For mac users, you need to go the apple website and download the developer kit(eventually in the future, that's all you'll be able to use). Go to the Apple Site to get started. If you don't have to dough to blow on a crazy idea there are plenty of places you can go to download free software programs to practice before you know if you're any good, and you can even use some of the free tools on a PC. Most of the work is just going out there and doing it, getting ideas and seeing them through.
Look in the app store and think of ideas people could use in their day to day life. The highest earning utility apps are typically some idea someone had to help them complete certain tasks during the day. Unique ideas include a work punch in/punch out tracker to keep track of how many hours you work in a week. Or maybe an application to keep track of your budget, balance your earnings with what you spend it on(this one saves me money). There are many ideas out there and it is your goal to find the next big one! Even if you can't think if the next big app, take another persons idea and improve it. Some of the utility applications available aren't as great as you'd expect. So there is plenty of room for you to turn apps that are considered duds, into the next big thing.
And if all else fails, bring back the childhood dream--making video games. Come on, we've all wondered how awesome it would be to make video games for a living. Be it testing, designing, or writing storyboards; video game making is one of the most exciting careers. Game Salad is one of the most popular programs, and is considered the best by many. Game salad costs about $99 a year for the basic version, but you can use it make and publish iPhone and iPad games. I can bet if you browse any iPhone user's phone you will find atleast 10 silly games that took a couple weeks to make(I have about 100). The silly game may only cost $.99-4.99, BUT the creator probably makes $500-$1000 a day from people simply downloading it.
Wouldn't you like to be like Steve Demeter? The developer of the vastly popular $2.99 iPhone game Trism. Who announced he made about $250,000 in profit in just two months. But the best part is he did it all by himself? However he did have a little help from a friend and a contracted designer. If his profits continue at this rate, Demeter earned nearly $2 million by July 2009.

There are countless success stories of people earning close to a million dollars just from games in their free time. Most of them even quit high paying jobs just to use their time to create more successful applications for iPhone users. Others got to quit their low paying jobs however, and now live a more luxurious life now.
So what are you waiting for?! Get out there and do it!
Why is now a good time to start?
When the iPhone launched, Apple had a 5 year contract with AT&T. Well in just a couple years the contract will be up and the iPhone will be available on all other phone service providers. That means your app will be exposed to all Verizon, Sprint, and T Mobile users. That increases your opportunity to earn money by a lot. But it will also increase your competition. And with the recent release of Apple's iPad, more and more people will have access to your applications.
If you want to extend yourself to more than just apps for the iPhone, many other companies have popular app stores that generate a lot of revenue. The applications for the Android phones are becoming more and more popular, and should even be comparable to the iPhone soon. So the more familiar with making simple applications for phones, the more available you make yourself to earning money. So if you consider yourself a technology geek, take advantage if this great career opportunity and become the next big thing in the Apple world.
iPhone 4
The iPhone 4, releasing on June the 24th is twice as amazing as the original iPhone. Apple never stops innovating with their products. This will be the 4th iPhone since 2007. The new iPhone offers a 4x better resolution with new camera functions. You get 2 cameras on your iPhone now, one on the front and one on the back but now with an LED flash for dark areas. The camera on the face allows you to see what your taking a picture or video of. This will allow you to see whats going on with the new video chat feature. Video chat requires a WiFi connections but is an amazing function. It allows you to see the people you call. Video chat with your kids when you're out of town for business, chat with your spouse who is out of the country for the military, or speak to the hearing impaired over the phone by video chatting with sign language. This feature looks crystal clear on the new screen apple offers. You get 4x the resolution called "Retina Displays" which exceeds what the human eye can differentiate.
iPad Apps
Another way to make money is iPad apps. If you're currently making apps for money you should consider iPad apps. The iPad s a widely popular device that is used for not only personal use, but business use. If you can create an app that would help out somebody in the work world you can be very profitable. Typically iPad apps cost more than phone apps, and users don't mind paying for them if they're worth it. In the work world people who use iPads use them to manage things. Using spread sheets, or taking notes is the most common thing.
Games are also another big part of the iPad app store. iPad games are even to the point where they are featured in gaming magazines. Also some big title console games are being formatted to be playable on the iPad. So if you have already created a game, consider making an iPad version. You can charge a little more for it. You can also tune it to do more now that you have a larger(10in.) touch screen to work with.
